Position: Accounting Manager

Purpose & Scope:

At Peak of the Market, we believe grower success drives our success. We are seeking a highly capable and values-driven Accounting Manager to lead our accounting function and serve as a key financial partner to the CEO and leadership team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, values precision, and wants to contribute meaningfully to an organization rooted in agriculture, community, and growth.

The Accounting Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department while ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role provides financial insight to support strategic decision-making and operational excellence. You will lead a small team, manage core accounting processes, and strengthen internal controls — all while supporting the long-term sustainability of our grower-focused business.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, production accounting, and general ledger, ensuring accuracy timeliness, and compliance with internal and regulatory standards.

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

  • Prepare and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Canadian accounting standards.

  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support leadership decision-making.

  • Ensure compliance with Canadian tax regulations (GST/HST, corporate income tax) and other statutory requirements.

  • Coordinate with external auditors and support the annual audit process.

  • Manage, mentor and develop the accounting team.

  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance environment.

  • Drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, and reporting.

  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Provide financial insight into operational initiatives and strategic priorities.

  • Identify opportunities for efficiency and cost optimization.

  • Adhere to all company procedures and policies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Chartered Processional Accountant (CPA) designation or in progress.

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance.

  • Direct experience with financial statement preparation would be an asset

  • Problem solving mindset, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Organized, and self-motivated individual with a team-oriented mindset.

  • Demonstrated self-starter with resilience and grit that can deliver results in a lean, agile organization.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and integrity.

  • Proficient use of MS Office (MS365) and Accounting Software

  • Experience within agriculture, operations, or manufacturing would be an asset.

Hours: Monday to Friday, with some weekends and after hours
Salary: $80,000-$90,000
Expected start date: As soon as possible
