Position: Logistics Coordinator

Purpose & Scope:

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely movement of products within the supply chain. This role involves coordinating shipments, and working closely with suppliers, vendors and internal departments to meet operational goals. This includes optimizing processes, reducing costs, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality through logistics operations.

Duties:

  • Plan and coordinate the movement of goods, including selecting the most efficient routes and carriers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and transportation companies to negotiate shipping rates, lead times, and service
    levels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationship with external partners to ensure smooth logistics operations. Address
    any issues related to shipping delays, lost items, or damaged goods and ensure they are resolved swiftly.
  • Resolve any discrepancies or disputes that may arise with external parties.
  • Collaborate with other departments to assess volume requirements and understand consumer preferences.
  • Ensure that all logistics activities comply with legal regulations, including transportation laws and safety
    standards.
  • Maintain documentation related to regulatory compliance, including permits, licenses and inspections.
  • Maintain accurate records of all logistics transactions, shipments, and inventory movements.
  • Analyze and recommend improvements to logistics processes for better efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement best practices in supply chain management, focusing on reducing costs and enhancing operationalflow.
  • Continuously evaluate logistics strategies to identify opportunities for automation or process upgrades. Due to the nature of the role and business, availability beyond regular work hours will be required to manage situations that may arise.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in the transportation industry and/or logistics
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and transportation management software.
  • Knowledge of shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading and customs paperwork.
  • Strong to excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization and
    excellent negotiation skills and ability to negotiate freight rates and manage transportation budgets.
  • Able to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Sound knowledge of the transportation rules and regulations and Canadian customs. Familiarity with both
    domestic and international shipping processes is preferred.
  • Able to follow directions and procedures, effective time management and organizational skills and aptitude for
    numbers with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency – Microsoft Office 365, internet and research.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and be able to take after hour calls.

Hours: Monday to Friday, with some weekends and after hours to deal with issues
